Haunted House?

Is my house haunted? I don't know. I don't even like to think of my house as haunted. When I hear the phrase haunted house I automatically think of those cheesy attractions that pop up around halloween ever year. The majority of us have been to one and there all good and fun for a good scare, but that is not my house. There are no ghosts of ghouls waiting in the dark corners or have Michael Myers living in my basement. Then again I still get the creeps, goosebumps, the heebie-jeebies or whatever you want to call it from the weird things that happen.

In one of my posts I mentioned that my wife and I hear footsteps from time to time, well this happened last  week. Our daughter was a sleep on the couch in the living room so we decided to go into the basement and watch "Dexter" on the t.v. which is set up down there. We watched one episode and started to watch another one when we both distinctively heard three footsteps that sounded just like our daughter walking around. I called up stairs to her to let her know we are in the basement and to come downstairs with us, but there was no response. We both look at each other knowing what each other was thinking. We hurry up stairs to get to our daughter to make sure she was ok. We found her sound a sleep right where we left her. My wife and I double checked the locks on the doors and windows being paranoid that someone might have been in the house. Not wanting to leave our daughter alone we all went to sleep in the same room that night.

This happened two days ago. It was early morning around 7:30 A.M. We could hear that our daughter was awake and playing in her room. My wife and I were just laying there, really not wanting to get out of the warm cozy bed. My wife's alarm starts to go off on her phone, she grabs her phone and turns it off. She sets it back on  the nightstand, a couple of seconds later we both hear three loud knocks. As if someone was knocking on the windowsill right next to us. At first I thought it was my wife fumbling around with her phone. Then she asks me "did you just do that". As soon as she said that I got the chills. I cant really explain where the knocking came from and it wasn't something I expected to happen. I'm just glad my daughter wasn't in there to hear it, she is already having trouble sleeping at night.

Basement

In my earlier post I shared a tale regarding my basement. Basements can be one of the most creepiest places in a house, the dark corners, weird noises and the musty smell. This one account happen to my uncle when he was living with my family, the basement just happened to be where he slept.

For a time my uncle, my fathers younger bother lived with my family. As with most young adults they need help when they start out on there own. While he was living with us he would work and save money towards getting his own place. I cant exactly remember what time my sisters and I had to leave for school but it was around 7 or 8 in the morning. On this particularly day we left for school while my uncle remained a sleep in the basement. He had a shower curtain rod setup between a wooden post and the wall so he could have a place to hang his cloths. Now This is how he described to us what happen. He was awoken by the sound of someone going through his cloths, which where hung up with metal hangers. He glances up thinking it was one of my sisters going through his shirts as they have done before. Opening his eyes trying to focus he sees a young girl with long blond or light colored hair standing with her back towards him looking at his cloths. He starts to rub his eyes trying to fight away a nights sleep knowing that both  of  my sisters  have dark almost black hair, all he knew is that some kid broke in our house and was stealing and than she just vanishes leaving the cloths slightly moving as if someone had just brushed by them. After this happen he didn't live with us much longer  and who can blame him. I don't know how I would react it if I saw a girl disappear right in front of my eyes.

Just imagine the pure joy I felt when my parents moved my bedroom to the basement. The things parents do to their kids(face palm). I hope you liked this post, leave a comment if you like. Thank you.

Nighty Night

I'm going to share two experiences that occurred when I was in elementary school. If anyone else would like to share a experience please feel free to post it in the comment section.

It is a exciting time when children are finally old enough to have sleepovers with there friends or family. Getting to eat junk food and play video games till the wee hours of night  will  always be fun. I remember when I was in second grade a friend stayed the night at my house. My parents were busy tearing up carpet , so we pretty much entertained ourselves by playing with G.I. Joe's and Nintendo. It was getting pretty late and our sugar highs were starting to wear off so we decided to put down the controllers and stop playing "Ninja Gaiden" so we could get some sleep. My room was set up so my bed was against a wall and the other side was facing my room, which I hated because it always felt like someone was watching you. I was sleeping against the wall and my friend had the side which faced the room. We had  been asleep for a hour or two when I felt the blankets rather forcibly being pulled away, I was thinking man what a jerk. Than my friend started to complain to me asking me  why I took all the blankets. We both accused each other a couple times of being a blanket hogs when I told him I felt the blankets being pulled away from me towards his side of the bed. Than he sat up real fast and scooted over towards where I was. I could make out a look on his face of surprise mixed in with some fear. I was going to ask him what his problem was when I saw what he was looking at. The blanket was pulled off of us and was thrown almost across the room  next to my dresser. Sadly that was the last time he stayed the night.

During the summer between 6th and 7th grade my parents moved my bedroom to the basement so my sisters could have separate rooms, I guess they were getting sick of each other. It took awhile to get used to being down there with all the new and different noises one hears in any basement. I would get the feeling that I was being watched from time to time, but I was used to that already, but one night I was sitting on my bed doing home work with the family cat sitting at my feet. Out of nowhere my cat starts to arch her back and hiss at something, the weirdest part was that she would move as if she was watching something move back and forth. I was freaked out. I was thinking to myself man I have to sleep down here tonight, that very thought just sucked. Well that night when I was about to go to sleep  I felt as if someone laid down next to me. Just imagine if your wife, husband or kid plops down next to you when your in bed. That's what it felt like. I jumped out of bed not even looking to see if anyone was there and ran outside where I stayed for awhile before I went back inside,  fighting hard the urge to go upstairs and sleep on my parents floor. I laid on the living room couch that night getting very little sleep.

IT happend in the 80's

Well the house that I live in today was my childhood home. My wife  and I bought it back in 2005 from my parents, this house was much bigger than the house we were living in so the upgrade in more space was nice but it came with a price and I'm not just talking about the mortgage. Here is one of the first stories I told my wife before we bought the house.

This one event happen way back during the 1980's I can't recall the exact date but I know it happen when PeeWee Herman was just becoming popular (Rofl the 80's). As I mentioned in my first post that my house has two levels and it was built back in the 1920's, being a  somewhat old house the stairs leading up to the second level would creek and squeak when someone would walk up them. Well one night my dad just got home from work he was on second shift at that time so it was around 10:30 at night. Me and my two sisters and my mom where all upstairs sleeping or pretending to sleep as kids do. I clearly heard my dad enter the house and start to take all his police gear off and setting it on the dinning room table. A couple of minutes went by and I stopped hearing my dad moving around so I just figured he was on the couch watching t.v. Than I started to hear someone on the stairs, they walked up to the landing than walked up the second pair of stairs and they just stopped at the top than a couple seconds later they would walked all the way back down. This happened three times. On the third time my sisters and I got out of our beds with or pillows in hand thinking it was just our dad playing tricks on us and we where going to give him a thrashing. So we heard someone stop at the top of the stairs, we jumped around the corner turned the hall light on and to our surprise or horror I was pretty scared now, there was no one there.

We stood there a about a minute just looking at each other I must have had a scared look on my face because one of my sisters, the braver one, said she would go down stairs and see if our dad was really home and that I should go and wait with my other sister in there room. She made her way down the stairs and into the living room were  the t.v. was on and my dad was fast asleep on the couch. I could hear my sister yelling at him asking him why he was scaring us and by that time my mom was awake going to down stairs to see what was going on. To this day my dad swears he was asleep on the couch the whole time and not once did he go upstairs.

What was that?

What was that? Has anything strange ever happen to you or loved ones that just cant be explained away with natural phenomena or leave you scratching your head and saying whaaaaaat. Well this is the nature of this blog.

My wife and I live in a rather peculiar house, we constantly hear things that leave us saying to each other What was that? For example our house has two levels and we are down stairs watching t.v. , than we start to hear walking around in one of the upstairs bedrooms as if someone has just woken up and has gotten out of bed in sleep induced stooper. One could say well that is just the house making natural house noises, and that's what it may be. But we hear the natural sounds of the house all the time and they do not sound like loud footsteps.

From time to time I will be blogging about other strange things that happen in my home along with other stories I find interesting. Something weird happens on a regular basis so I will have plenty to talk about. If you are reading this I thank you and have a nice day.
